Layouts from the NSD (early) Crop at Becky's

Had a great time and got LOTS done -- here are 14 pages plus one from before the crop.

Most are for various challenges -- a lot of them at 2 Broke Girls.  Will come back and add info after I get posted to challenge sites :-)

Portrait of the Artist

My son gave me some self-portraits he had done.  So I used them for the challenge at About A Boy .  I might never have scrapped these without the challenge, so I'm glad it came along.  Since the drawings were so white, I wanted to add lots of color.  So I chose the brightest color I know -- red -- for my background.  Then I went to my scrap drawer and pulled out a bunch of scraps -- everything but the bases cs is scraps.  Love using them!  Knew I saved 'em for a reason :-)

That's the Ticket!

David had met Joseph at CSUN when he came back to work a performance (some techie stuff) for Lillian.  We went with Lillian to Flappers to see Joseph perform.  It was a fun night.

Based on a sketch from Let's Scrap, 4-10-13.  Love their multi-photo sketches.  Nice ladies too.

Green Army Men

Another layout from our trip to Disneyland/CA Adventures over spring break.  Love listening to the various wandering groups -- including these guys.  Kids love them too.

This is based on a sketch from Let's Capture Our Memories:

Bumps Ahead

This layout is from our spring break trip to Disneyland and CA Adventures.  We had such a good time.  We went to ride the Carsland racer ride, but it broke down just as we got to the racing part.  They had to walk us out -- so we got a few "behind the scenes" photos that most people don't get.  I took inspiration from several challenges for this one:

Club CK's Issue Challenge #5 to use a prop -- my snippet from the CA Adv. map that describes the ride and the signs I found online and printed off.  I suppose the cars themselves could count as props too, yes?

Club CK's Weekly Challenge to use photos that aren't great -- mine are slightly out of focus and not lighted perfectly, but it was a great story to share.

Club CK's April Color Challenge -- Green, Yellow and Gray -- The green is easy to see in my layout, the yellow in the signs and in the hexagon paper on the left page under the plaid, and all the photos are matted with gray.

The 2 Broke Girls sketch got me started on the left side and then just added the right side to it.  Loved the arrows.  Knew I wanted to incorporate them some how and then....

the blog hop over at Skrap N' Chat  was all about masks or stencils.  So I made my own arrow mask on my Cricut and used that.

And last -- but not least, in fact this challenge inspired me to print off these photos in the first place - Child's Play Challenges  inspired us with Matchbox cars.

I love the online scrappy world and how I can draw inspiration from so many places and have it all come together.

My Birthday -- from a year ago

This layout was for several challenges.  First, it follows a Let's Scrap sketch.  Then it's about my birthday and has butterflies -- which are two of the challenges over at Club CK.  Then, finally, I followed the recipe at  Love to Scrap!Challenges :  3 or more layers, 2 patterned papers, 1 stamped image (mine is a digital stamp).

All of the above inspiration helped me create this:

I used some paper I got at Michael's during their awesome sale and loved using the lighter, spring colors and butterflies.  With my 3 guys, I do a lot of bolder, brighter, more masculine layouts (I'm not often in the photos since I'm behind the camera).  But every once in a while I get to do something like this.
